Commentary
Horseneck Brook's presence is below the snow in this image of a deep winter snowfall from which only a few rocks protrude.
This painting was owned in the 1950s by Walter Reitz (b. 1885), who was an executive in Oil City, Pennsylvania. In 1956, Reitz gave the work to the Daywood Gallery in Lewisburg, West Virginia, created by Arthur and Ruth Woods Dayton for their collection. The collection was donated to its present collection in 1967.
