Commentary
This pastel, probably depicting a view along Horseneck Brook in Greenwich, was part of the group of pastels that belonged to the Art Students League. Twachtman gave it to the league during his many years there as a teacher of antique drawing, showing a very different side of his art than the subject in which he instructed. The pastel was on deposit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1921 to 1966.
